Art Basel AI Companion
Art Basel runs the biggest art fairs on the planet. Hundreds of galleries, thousands of works, and a crowd that runs from first-time visitors to serious collectors. Fantasy and Microsoft set out to build the one thing that could guide all of them, on the floor, in real time. I produced it.
What I owned
- Producer across iOS, AI integration, and live event testing
- Ran the cross-functional team: design, engineering, and Microsoft Copilot integration
- Shipped and stress-tested the app live at four global fairs
The brief
Make the fair legible to anyone holding a phone. A collector should find the one gallery they flew in for. A newcomer should feel invited, not lost in a maze of booths.
The build
We built an AI companion on Microsoft Copilot. Two features did the heavy lifting: an AI Liaison you could ask anything ("where do I find emerging Latin American artists?"), and an AI Lens that recognized a work when you pointed your camera at it and handed you the story behind it.
Shipping live
We tested in the hardest conditions there are: live, on the floor, at Miami, Paris, Basel, and Hong Kong. Real crowds, real connectivity, real collectors with no patience. Each fair sharpened the next.
